the clipper schooner Jane Andersen, Captain J. Chambers, which arrived yesterday in the lower cross channel with a cargo 4f 70 000 feet of timber from Havelock, consigned to Messrs Guthrie and Asher, beat op with this forenoon’s flood, and anchored at the Port. Captain Chambers reports sailing from the Sound on the 21st ult,; encountered a north-west gale, and had to run back for shelter. On the wind moderating beat to Ketft Bay, and anchored. Left there on the 26th, and carried a fine north-west breeze to the Kaikoras. On the 28th, at midnight, was abreast of Akaroa. Light variable winds followed until 2.30 p.m. on the Ist, when a sudden shift of wind to the south-west carried away the maintopmast and outer jib, and split the mainsail, foretopsail, and inner jib. It being then necessary to keep away, bore up for Oamaru, the barometer indicating 29deg. 65tmn. Sailed again on the 3rd in company with the Bckooner Dagmar, the brigs Wave and Alarm remaining at anchor off Oamaru ; met with strong south winds with a heavy sea until arrival at the Heads. The schooners Caledonia and Dagmar, and a ketch supposed to be the Flying Squirrel, from the Coast, were to-day anchored outside the Heads. „ , , The barque that sailed hence on Saturday for the Bluff put back last evening to the anchorage at the Heads.
