THE CRICKET CLUB DEPUTATION.
To the Editor
Sir,— ln your report of the proceedings of the City Council as regarding the South Dunedin Recreation Ground, which appeared in last evening’s issue, it is stated “ The Mayor mentioned that Mr Anderson had informed him that he had been misreported in the Daily Times.'’ To this charge of “ mis-reporting” I give the most absolute denial. The words that Mr Anderson were reported in the Daily Times to have used at the interview with the Mayor, were the exact words that he did qse. In tips statement I have been borne out by my short-hand notes, which were taken whilst sitting next to Mr Anderson ; by my own recollection —apart from my notes —of what took place at the interview ; and, lastly, by Mr Anderson himself. ~ I believe Mr Anderson did say to the Mayor, in course of conversation, that the words, as reported in the Dully Times, might produce an impression somewhat different from what he intended to convey ; but I have the authority of Mr Anderson himself for saying that he did not find fault with the report itself, nor question its accuracy.—l am, &c., „ _ “Times Eeforter.
