[By Telegraph.] THE THREE MILE RACE. At the stait Otago and the lllysus had outside places in shoal water. Jn making a rush for deeper water, the lilysus fouled the Kaiapoi. Otaeo, ami I ytteltou, also crossing oars, the former boat losing two lengths. Wellington was the first boat away, but at tbe end of the first quarter-mile was pa : sed by Lyttelton, who led all the way. Kaiapoi was passed by Wellington at tbe first bend, and though closely pressed by Wellington twice, retained 2ndplace throughout. Otago was fourth until the second mile, when she passed by the Sabrina and Endeavor, The Sabrina and Wellington raced abreast, last half-mile Lyttelton won by four lengths ; Kaiapoi was three a-heacl of Wellington, which led the Sabina by a quarter of a length. Otago was HiO yards behind Lytteitop. A protest, lodged by Otago against Lyttelton for a foul at the start was disallowed ; the starter saying there was no, foul. Time, 20min. 26sec. SCULLERS’ RACE. Two Miles, for L2O. Dawson, Verdon, H. T. Green, of Otago, started, Green would have won, but he got on the wrong side of the flag twice.. Time, 20miu. ssee, CHAMPION PAIR-OAR RACE. Two miles, for L2O ; second, L 5. The Ripple, Zephyr, Sylph, Cam, and Otago started. The latter’s crew pulled in a four-oar gig, and never had a chance. There were two protests, and all the boats will pull again to-morrow. FOUR-OARED RACE. Three Miles, for Coates and Company’s Cups. The Wellington, Sabrina, and Illissus competed. Wellington led from the first and won easily. Time (wind against with ebb tide) 18 min. 31 secs. Latest. LIS7 was raised by subscript’ons and by concert for the Greymouth sufferers.
