The amount of revenue received at the Cus tom-house on goods cleared for consumption to-day, was £433 17s sd. Threshing of wheat will he pretty general in the Taieri at the commencement of next week. A few rubbed samples have been shown in town but no transactions have taken place. The quality will be superior in most cases to what it has been for the last four years. For small lots, at immediate delivery, 4s (id to 4s Sd may be given, but in the course of ten days much easier prices will only be offered. There is no sale for old lots of second class wheat. Fowl wheat is saleable at 3s 3d. New oats may be quoted at 2s ; there has been none to speak of placed in the market; for old lots, if good, one penny per bushel is given in advance of this. Malting barley is wanted, for prime lots Ss 9d to 4s 3d is offered. Feeding sorts are not in demand. The market is xery bare of flour; good brands are moving at 1,12 10s to Ll3. Bran is supplied in trade lots ab L 4. Pollard, scarce, L 4 ss. Oatmeal, Ll3 10a. Pearl Barley, LI 7. Potatoes, Ll2. Straw, L2 ss. Hay, L 3 10s. Chaff. L 3 1 Os. A. Mercer reports for the week ending February 17 : —Ketail prices—Fresh butter, in 41b. and 11b. prints, beat quality, 9d to lOd per lb. ; second quality, 8d per lb ; powdered and salt butter, Sd to 9d per lb. The quantity coining in every week has fallen off very considerably, and there is a good demand at advanced prices. There is no improvement in the cheese market; for the best quality, 6d to Sd per lb. ; second quality, 5d to 6d per lb. Side and rolled bacon, 9d to lOd per lb. Colonial hams, lid to Is per lb. Eggs are scarce, and in good demand, at Is 6d per dozen. The news by the last mail announces that the closing price of New Zealand Bank shares was L2O, and purchases had been made at Ll9|. This is said to be the highest price yet realised for this stock in London.
