SECULAR EDUCATION.
To the Editor. Sir, —lt is very evident that unless those who are opposed to den •minational schools combine, the chances are that the denominational system will be introi luced. I would suggest that an association should be formed in Dunedin, bavin-! for its object the obtaining of secular education pure and simple. No compromise will do. Asa preliminary, perhaps you will be good enough to receive the names of citizens willing to unite for this object, and if once a sufficient number of names has been obtained, then a meeting might be called. I have been informed that those in favor of denominational schools are getting up petitions to the Parliament. Surely secularists will not refuse to give expression to their opinions by petitions also. To obtain secular schools we must be at hand to hand and foot to foot, and I hope secularists have faith in this battle’s result. I am, &c., A Secularist.
