We publish by permission of the Hon. W. Reeves, the following copy of a telegram he received to-day from the Defence Minister at Wanganui:—“ I have received a telegram last night to the following effect: Tito Kowaru, with thirty-two men and about the same number of women and children came out gi the bush to a settlement on the const called Omuturangi, a place about thirty miles north of the Patea river. A tangi was held and several speeches made. T ; to Kowaru made a short speech and said he had come on the coast and was desirous of settling down peaceably; whether or not the government would allow kirn to do sc ffe equld not say. As far as fie was concerned, ffe me%nt to (.etfle peaceably and not to molest Europeans any flu•thef.. ,, fWe have received a telegram to the samp effect from fire villa and Oo,J
