The Bazaar. —Not the least attractive place of amusement on Boxing Day will be the bazaar in aid of the Dominican Convent and schools, which will be opened on that dav. By permission of Mr Gillies, Speaker" of the Provincial Council, the Council Hall has been lent for the purpose, and already the stalls are in a forward state of preparation. They occupy convenient positions on each side of the room, and the refreshment stall is placed across under the Speaker’s seat. It is impossible to enumerate what handsome things arc to be offered for sale, for use, ornament, and arausi ment; but amongst the chief attractions arc some vases of beautiful artificial flowers made at the Convent; in which nature is so closely imitated as completely to deceive the eye, unless on close inspection. The wool work aud embroidery are very superior, and, as works of art, well worthy of attention. Amongst the costly articles are tea and coffee service, cake basket, fish knife and fork, and other useful adjuncts to the table, in silver; a devotional chair, the gift of the Bight I!ev the Bishop; a handsome baby’s cot and suite, and every variety of dresses for children.
