Dock Tuust. —The Dock met this afternoon at 2 o’clock ; present Messrs R. B. Martin (in the chair), Reynolds, M'Lean, Bathgate, Tayler, Fish, Thompson, Rolfe, and Bradshaw. It was resolved to receipt an offer of compromise made by the con ractor, subject to approval by the Provincial Government. Messrs Geo. M'Lean, W. H. Reynolds, and H. S, Fish, handed in their resignations as members of the Trust.
Juries in Civil Cases.—By the amended Juries Act, which i* now in force, the verdict of five-sixths of a jury can be taken in civil cases, provided that no verdict not arrived at unanimously shall be taken till the jury have retired for a period of six hours, and have intimated to the presiding Judge that there is no probability of their agreeing. Choral Society.—The Choral Society have determined to give the oratoria of the “ Messiah,” on the 2Sth inst. There will be a rehearsal to-night in the University Hall.
