MAYOR’S COURT.
This Day. (Before His Worship the Mayor.) DRUNKENNESS. Patrick Higgins and William Peppiatt were each lined 5s ; James Galbraith, 10s; Mary White and John Gleeson were each lined 20s, which neither felt inclined to pay, the former receiving the alternative of seven days imprisonment, and the latter of three days imprisonment, Gleeson was also sentenced to three days hard labor, for resisting and assaulting Sergt. Kaligher, while in the execution of his duty. THEFT. Frederick Lloyd, charged with stealing a watch at Naseby, was on the application of the Commissioner of Police, further remanded for seven days. ASSAULT. Ockenden v. Quin Ling, was remanded till tomorrow, to allow the attendance of a Chinese interpreter. Hcevo v. G. Forester.—The defendant was lined 20s and costs. OFFENCES AGAINST THE BYE-LAWS. David Boss, neglecting to keep a light over an excavation in George street, was mulcted in costs'; James Gore, creeling a building without permission, Is and costs. Jas. Miuford, driving across the footpath in George street, 2Qs and costs.
