The amount of revenue received at the Cus-tom-house on goods cleared for consumption to-day, was £460 15s lid. Prime milling wheat is scarce. Buyers’ price is 4s 9d, but holders want ss. The transactions of the week have been light, as the millers will not buy except at the former figure. In oats there is a slight improvement in the demand ; the prices are still at former rates, Is lOd to 2s. Malting barley has a good market at 3s 6d to 3s 9d; feeding lets are dull at Is 9d to 2s 3d. The bakers’ demand for flour is good, and orders for other Provinces are of a greater extent. The price is Ll3 for good brands. Bran, L2 15s ; pollard, L 3 1,5s ; oatmeal, LI 3 10s ; pearl barley, LlB 10s ; fowl wheat is worth 3s; potatoes, L 6 ; hay, L 4 10s; chaff, L 4 10s; straw, L2 10s; turnips, L2. A. Mercer reports for the week ending Dec, 2.—Retail prices only: Fresh butter, in 4 and lib prints, first-class quality, 7d to 9d per lb; second-class fresh butter, 6d to 7d ; fresh butter, iu lumps, 6d to 7d per lb; salt and powdered butter, 7d to 8d per lb. Fresh butter is very plentiful, and most of the retailers are salting large quantities weekly. There is no improvement in the market for cheese, nor is there any looked for, as the market is completely glutted, and large quantities of new cheese are getting ready for the market; for first-class qualities, 6d to 8d per lb, and second-class 4d to 6d per lb. Side and rolled bacon, 9d to lOd per lb. Colonial hams, lOd to Is per lb ; English hams are not much asked for, and selling at Is 4d per lb. English cheese is quite unsaleable at Is 4d per lb. Eggs are in good demand, and retailing at Is ad per dozen.
