SAILED. Oamaru—Nov. 29th, 10.45, Wallace, for Dunedin. Oamaru—Nov. 29th, noon, Rangatira, for Dunedin. Lyttelton—Nov. 29th, 11.20, Wellington, for Dunedin. The schooner Alice sailed for Waikouaiti this forenoon. The ketch RedclifFe sailed last evening for Shag Point. The schooner Martha Helen, from Sydney, with passengers and a cargo of produce consigned to Bladadder and Co., arrived at the Heads this morning, and sailed up to Deborah Bay, whence she will proceed on the first favorable opportunity to Dunedin. Captain Fleming reports leaving Sydney on October 12, made the South West Cape on the 19th, and arrived as above. This morning at four o’clock, Captain Thomson, the Harbor Master, accompanied by Captains M ‘Kinnon, Clark, and London, with Mr A. Hill Jack, of the Victorian Insurance Company, took passage on board the p.g. Samson, to ascertain the position of the rock on which the Ahuriri was wrecked. On reaching the spot, the Samson was anchored outside the rock, and the water being smooth a boat was lowered, and soundings and bearings taken. It was found to bear N.W. by W. 4 W., eleven miles distant from Tairoa Head, and about a mile from the shore. The investigation was made about half ebb, and on sounding, six feet of water were found upon the rock, which was surrounded by three or four fatho .' s. The fore part of the vessel near the rock Avas found heading to the N. E., Avhich shows that she must have turned round since she sank. The boiler Avas lying about 110 feet distant from the hull, the afterpart of Avhich Avas not visible. No other portions of the wreck were seen save a few casks.
