OPENING OF THE WANGANL7 HUWOF. Wanuanvi, November 2'3
The Governor attended successful amateur performance last uight, and to-day opened the new bridge. There was a very large procession, which was formed in the following order :—Wanganui Cavalry ; three volunteer bands ; the Mar ton, Bangitekci, Aramoho, and Alexander Cavalry Cadet Corps ; militia officers ; the Governor’s carriage ; Tui.AAa Cavalry ; local fire brigade ; reception committee j citizens and native chiefs. Addrc-os from the bridge committee and natives were presented, and replied to by his Excellency. After crossing the bridge, the procession countermarched and halted to be photographed, and then went to the KutlandJ Hotel, where the Governor thanked the volunteers, and congratulated the contractors on the completion of the magnificent work. Three cheers were then given for the Governor, lady Bowen, the contractor, and the bridge. There will be a levee this afternoon, and a ball to-night.
