THE COLONIAL PRIZE FIRING.
The regulations for the next Colonial Prize Firing appeared in a special Gazette on Saturday. The competition is to take place at Christchurch on a day yet to be fixed. There will be three classes of prizes (I). For adult members (except Cavalry), Militia, and Constabulary. (2). Fo C nalry, Volunteers and Mounted Constabulaiy. (3). For all c mors. Four classes of general prizes will be competed for in districts, viz,, (1), Cavalry. (2). Artillery (3). Cadets. (4). Constabulary. District prizes will also le given for Militia and Volunteers. No second —— F »„inon lor me choice of district representatives will be permitted. No Volunteer wid be eligible as a district representative unless he has attended five 1 Government parades between April 1 and November 30, The minimum score for representatives is 30 in the first stage—2oo and 300 yards—position standing, five shots at each range; and 40 In the second stage —400, 500, and COO yards. Canterbury will be allowed to send five representatives, and Otago and Southland ten. Colonial representatives will not be eligible to compete for district prizes. Any Volunteer qualified as a representative will be entitled to compete at the Colonial firing if he pays his own expenses to and fro. The Colonial matches are nearly similar to those of last year, aqd w{ll fie devided into bight sets, l : Thie Nofth v. ! South set will bfi open only to marksmen. In the All,comers matoh competitors will be allowed to fire with any rifle. The Cadets will fire in their own districts.
