The Reclaimed Land and Water Works Debentures, to the amount of L 45,000, have been taken up at par by the Mutual Investment .Society, at 74 per cent. A smart shock of earthquake was felt at 1.45 this afternoon. The direction was from the south-west. Auckland, November 23. An amenled Licensing Bill has been introduced into the Council, making the attestation of one witness sufficient to the signatures. A petitition, under the permissive clause, has been presented to make the wholesale license fee L3O.
