The Nebraska has been docked here, and will not proceed to Melbourne.

Adelaide. The loss of the overland mail has caused great inconvenience. There arc very conflicting statements and accounts as to the grain crop. A proposal has been introduced into Parliament to pay members L2 per day for the session; members to be allowed eighty days’ free transit by rail or coach.

Welling ton, November 24. Arrangements have been concluded satisfactorily with Messrs Brogden. The contract for the Wellington and Masterton line has been signed ; and the works are to be commenced in three weeks. Nelson, November 24, At jthe criminal sessions Firth and Murdock, for ass wait with firearms on a digger named Quinlan, were acquitted. Quinlan, who was charged with escaping from custody, was acquitted, tho convicting magistrate’s sentence having been invalid, inasmuch as three months imprisonment was awarded for an offence only punishable by two. James Homan, the boy employed in the Havelock Post Office, for inserting letters, and inserting indecent words, was sentenced to six months hard labor ; and Cook, for horse-stealing, to three years hard labor. Wra. Thomson, for arson, was acquitted.
