The Mayor said the evidence .did not bear out the charge preferred against the woman With regard to the girl, he presumed that Mr Goldstein had brought tne'case before the Court for the purpose of stopping a repitition of the offence. The girl did not appear to understand her position, and he was inclined to think that she had acted, more or less, under the influence of the mother. He thought the ends of justice would be met if the girl was discharged with a severe caution ; and he took this step in order that she might not become worse than what she appeared to be. He trusted that she would be more cautious for the future, if she came before the Court again on a similar charge she would be severely dealt with. LAKCENY.
