RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
This Day. (Before A. C. Strode, Esq., R.M.) Civil Casks. Mattheson v. Corcoran. —In this case his Worship stated that the Clerk of the Court had received a letter from Auckland, stating that the defendant had been appointed to give evidence in the Resident Magistrate’s Court there on the 24th inst. The case was adjourned to Friday, December 8. M'Glashan v. Nelson.—L3 2s 6d, for grazing a horse for twenty-five weeks. The defendant objected to the amount, which he thought was over-charged, the charge made being 2s 6d a week ; and the defendant alledging it was agreed to charge 2a a week. The case was adjourned to this day fortnight, to give opportunity of obtaining the evidence of Mr E. M'Glashan, with whom the agreement was made. Craig and Gillies v. Walter Urc.—Ls 6j 6d, for goods supplied. Judgment for the plaintiff by default for the amount, with costs. Peterson v. Dwyer.—l3s, for cash lent and meals supplied. Judgment by default for the plaintiff for the amount, with costs. Somerville v. Gelanda.—Ls 10s. for balance of wages due to plaintiff as steward of the steamship Ahuriri. The defendant is providers of the vessel, and the plaintiff claimed two months’ wages at L 3 10s, and one month in lieu of notice. L 5 had been pai lon account. Judgment by default for the amount claimed, with costs.
