Mr Monkman, formerly purser of the s.s. Phcobe, has joined this vessel as purser, and we have to thank him for files. Those who have travelled in the N. Z.S.N. Company’s boats will be sorry to hear that Mr Charles Moss, who has sailed in them for the last three and a-half years, and lately in the Taranaki, has resigned his appointment, and proceeds to Japan by the first opportunity. During the above time he baa made many warm friends by his uniform attention and courtesy to all who had business with him, whether passengers or others, and the company will lose a valuable servant in him. The public generally will regret his loss, and the press will have peculiar cause for doing so, for he was particularly assiduous and obliging in bringing regular files, and affording all possible information of interest. Mr Moss will carry with him the best and warmest wishes for bis success in the new career from all with whom he has been brought in contact in the Colony.— Eveniny Post, Oct. 16.
