MAYOR’S COURT.

This Day, (Before his Worship the Mayor.) DRUNKENNESS. C. Wilson was fined 10s ; W, M'Culloch, 20s; M. Sullivan, 10s ; T. Flaherty, 20s; T. Hill, 10s ; N. Griffen, 20a ; M. Butter, 20s; T. Lyons, 10; W. Newalls and S. Ryan were discharged with a caution, DISORDERLY CONDUCT. Dani I Heane, was charged with conducting himself in a manner e ilculated to provoke a breach of the peace in a right-of-way off Walker street on Sunday morning last. Sergeant Anderson gave evidence that he found prisoner in a brothel in which he

heard a great noise, and after dragging him out ho persisted in trying to get in again. Accused said he had not been three or four minutes inside the place, and his object in going there was to get away a man who had money about him whom he knew to be there.

His Worship said he was bound to believe the evidence uf the constable, that be was making a disturbance, and as prisoner brought no evidence to prove to the contrary, he must fine him 20s, or 24 hours imprisonment, STEALING OFF CLOTHES LINES. Margaret Bradshaw was charged with stealing from a clothes line in a paddock off Stafford street, article* of the value of 10s. Inspector Thompson said the practice of stealing from clothes lines in the town was becoming very prevalent. Mary Lindsay deposed to the articles produced having belonged to her, but would not swear that they were, being much worn. Other evidence was also given, and his Worship said as he had a slight doubt respecting the identification of the articles, he would discharge prisoner with a caution. OFFENCES AGAINST THE BYE-LAWS. John Burton was fined 2s fid for allowing his horse to wander in the North Dunedin Recreation Ground. Duncan Muirhead was charged with plying for hire off the stand, and fin d 5s aud costs.
