The Heart of Oak claim, on the Carrick reef, has cleaned up its late crushing of 65 tons of stuff, with a result of 240 ounces. The Star of the East claim commences crushing to-day. The stone to be put through looks well. Invercargill, October' 3. A meeting was held last night on Chinese question, and a motion was carried that it is the opinion of the meeting that the position of the Colony with reference to Public Works and Immigration schemes, demands the the discouragement of the Chinese Coolie immigration, and the encoui’agement of European immigration. Arrived, Grace Darling from Adelaide, with 110 tons of flour.
