PARLIAMENT.

(FROM our own correspondent.) Wellington, Sept. 20. „ The Otago Waterworks Bill has passed. The second reading of the Goldfields Bill has been adjourned to Friday. Mr Reid moved the second reading of the Otago Waste Lands Bill last night in a short speech, the phraseology of which plainly indicated that he was sensible that he trod on dangerous ground. Mr G. M'Lean at once moved that the Bill be read that day six months. Mr M'Gillivray supported the Bill, and was followed by Mr Shepherd with a stump oration. Mr Wakefield moved the adjournment of the debate, which was supported by Messrs Vogel and Haughton, ami opposed by Messrs Mervyn and Bathgate Ultimately it was adjourned to Friday, and there is a probability that the Bill will he rejectcd. On the motion for going into supply, Mr Stafford moved an adjournment to Tuesday, Stating his opinion that the House could not discuss the financial policy until the Bills were brought down. A debate ensued. The Government consented to an' adjournment to

Thursday, on the understanding that they would then commence with the estimates, as the Bills would not be ready for some time ; and they thought the discussion should be taken first. Sir D. Monro has been unseated for Moteuka, and Mr Parker has been declared duly elected.
