NEW BOOKS.

We have received of Mr ,J. corner of the Arcade, the first part of a new edition of Dickens's works, published in a cheap and portable form. This part begins with “Oliver Twist,” one of Dickens’s earliest works, bub which will bear reading again and again. The type is clear and large, and the illustrations exceedingly graphic. AVe have seen many engravings with more finish, hut very few with mote character to recommend them. This edition is published by Chapman and Hall, of London, and, when completed, will form very handsome volumes. Mr Braithwaite has also, laid upon mutable Part 138 of the “ Sunday School Times,” which is de ciibel as a “ Home Educacator.” It contains useful hints and popular comments on various Scripture passages and doctrines, as well as plenty of very indifferent poetry.
