PARLIAMENT.
(FROM OUR SPECIAL CORKESPOXDENT. ) Wellington', Sept. 10. Mr Stafford moved for a oommittec to enquire into the management of the Telegraph Department in a conciliatory speech. The Government acceded to the motion on condition that private telegrams of the Government were not examined. The Ministerial explanations were well received, and a committee appointed : Mr Fox justifying himself against Mr Gillies’s attacks. On the motion that the affidavits in Monro v. Laclde be laid on the table, a row ensued. Mr Gillies was bitter, Mr Fox, sarcastic, and the Opposition generally savage at the success of the Financial statement. There are now here Maories to be called to the Provincial Council. Mr Haughtou suggested Mete Kingi and Tareha.
