The Bankruptcy Committee, of which Mr Bathgate is chairman, has met, and adjourned to to-morrow. There is no steamer for the South until Friday. The Opposition papers have been hoaxed with a report that the Covernmeut intend to propose an income tax, and dissolve the House if beaten on the Financial Statement. the new Budget, and warning the opposition against a hasty condemnation of it. The Committee on Chinese immigration is taking evidence. The Motneka election committee is adjourned to Monday, to bring up a report. It is considered to be certain against Sir D. Munro. The University question is reported as settled favorably for Otago. Tdiaru. Doctor McLean died here last night.
