MR GRAHAM AND HIS OPPONENTS.

To the Editor. Sir, — Your readers will see from the advertisement that appears elsewhere, that I have been necessitated to make a declaration on account of the paid agents of Messrs Gotten and Co. spreading the report that I was standing to let the former gentleman in. God forbid that 1 should be reduced to such, a low standard ; and if they continue to circulate these .'■illy tales, they may expect to be served with a writ for defamation of character. Politics seem to be running very high with the Southern. League and its supporters, in the meantime, in tryingjto bring forward ail the good points of Mr Gotten to cover the bad ones. Even our Mayor, Mr Fish, is so interested in the matter, that he Would not sign ray declaration ; but I can inform him that better men than him has had J. P. taken from their name for a less insult. 1 s;e in the Daily Timex that Mr Cutten did great things at the Norih-East Valley. In the first place the report is not true ; and second it was a very large meeting, there being four, includingjMr Cutten and myself ; and they voted me to the chair, and Mr Cutten objected, and I proposed another which was accepted. I call upon Mr Cutten to sign a declaration embodying tbs ideas contained in his advertisement in the Southern League, that he would take nothing to do with the Water Company. 1 am, &c., John Graham.
