Supreme Court. —The trial of F. W. Reicbelt for arson, was continued at the Supreme Court to-day. The whole of the evidence for the defence had not beep taken when our reporter left at half-past -1 o’clock. It was then understood that it would be impossible conclude the trial to-night. Fire. —We regret to record the destruction, by fire, of the store and dwelling house of Mr J. Pitches, Black’s No. 3 (a branch of the firm of Pitches Brothers, Blacks No. 1) early on the morning of Wednesday last. Mr Pitches had scarcely time to throw his children out of the window of the bed room and make good his own escape before the flames had the complete mastery, Mr Pitches wiU be a considerable loser ; he having been unable to save anything With the exception of his watch. The stock, which has but just been replenished, together with the store effects, were valued at TpjMX We have not heard if the bpp]>s of the firm were consumed : if 5a the total loss will be considerably wor tan Times.
