(FROM GREVILLK’S TELEGRAM COMPANY, BKUTEII’s AGENCY.) Wellington, August 26. Two slight earthquake vibrations were felt here at % a,ra., and again at 4 a.m, Greymouth, August 26. A monster meeting was held at the Ahaura, to protest against the mismanagement of the south-w’est goldfields by the Provincial Government of Nelson. Resolutions were carried, asking the General Government to assume the control of the public expenditure, Christchurch, August 26. A sharp shock of earthquake was felt here at 2.5 a.m. to-day. Tauranga, August 26. It is not true, as reported, that Te Kooti is making for Waikato. The Arawas who, on the receipt of the information, started to intercept him are returning. Auckland via Nelson, August 31. A fire took place at the New Zealand Insurance Co’s Buildings on August 27, in the rear of the premises which were destroyed. The damage is estimated at L 3,000. The share-market is quiet, Caledonians in an uncertain state ; Moanatairi and Nonpariel looking well.
