The s.s. Beautiful Star sailed from Lyttelton on tht 18th August at 5 p.m., and arrived at Akaroa at 11 the same night, discharged, and took in cargo ; sailed at 7 p.m. on the 19th ; arrived at Timaru at 10 a.m. on the 20th in a dense fog ; remained till the 23; d, when discharged and loaded cargo, amd sailed at 8.40. had fresh N. B- wind till near Moeraki, when the wind suddenly chopped round to West and S.W., with very heavy hail and snow, squalls and heavy head sea ; arrived at Port Chalmers at 2.50 p.m. Cargo, 1010 cases preserved meat, 7o casks tallow, 36 bales wool, 43 sacks wheat, 12 cases cheese, 15 kocs butter, 47 sacks grass seed. The p.s. Wallace with passengers and eargo for Oamara, sailed th ; s foreuo n. The twin’Screw steamer, Jretty Jane, sailed for Oamaru and Kakanui, at noon today. The steam-tng, Geelong, proceeded to the Heads this afternoon, to tow in the ship Gamecock, that arrived at the Heads on Wednesday last. The ship Shun Lee from London, was signalled at the Heads this afteroon.
