(from gbeville’s telegram company, eeuter’s agency.) Invercargill, August 2d. A destructive fire occurred yesterday morning at Myross Bush. The farm of Mr Ferguscn, together with his house, horses, and grain, were destroyed ; the total value being L6OO. The cause of the fire is unknown. The Mayoralty nominations took place yestesdyy. Messrs J. W. Mitchell and Wm, Hood were nominated. Tl ie poll takes place on Saturday, and a hard contest is expected. The Claud Hamilton lias not arrived up to the time of telegraphing (3.55 p.m.) The very boisterous weather prevailing here is doubtless the cause of her detention. Christchurch, August 24. The Scott celebration was a great success, 1000 persons attended. Judge Gresson was prevented from attending, in consequence of the receipt of news of the death of his brother-in-law, General Beatty;
