ARRIVED. Lyttelton—7,2o a.m;, Nevada, from Wellington. - ' SAILED. Wellington-2 p.m., Taranaki fo the South Lyttelton—l.ls a.m., Nevada, fo Dunedin. The s.s. Claud Hamilton, from Melbourne via.Northern Ports, arrived with the Suez mail this morning. Her passengers, mails, Ac., were conveyed to Dunedin by the Harbor, steamers shortly, after arrival. Ihe cause of the long . passage < f the Claud Ha : milton from Lyttelton p attributed to three days* detention at Timaru, where, some cargo was waiting for ,sfiipm ? nt. A heavy rollino sea and the bad state of the beach prevented this from being accomplished. The OJau4 Hamilton left Timaru last evening.at o p.m., arrived at Otago Heads at 4 a.m., and steamed up alongside the hulk California this morning, at eight o clock. The s.s. Beiutiful Star that arrived on Monday morning last from Oamaru, and the brig Union, from Hobart Town, are reported by Captain Clarke, of the Claud Hamilton, as being unable to load or discharge cargo from the same cause that detained the Claud. < The p.s. Wallace on her passage to Oamaru called at the Port this morning and took on board some carpenters and others, who proceeded with the steamer to Oamaru, for the purpose of. making the second attempt in gutting the barque Premier off the rocks at Oamaru. We understand that where the Premier lies stranded is sheltered from the force of the surf that rolls on the beach ; and that the contractors, Messrs Thomson Brothers, ef Port Chalmers, are quite sanguine of getting the vessel off. The S.s. Maori and the s.s. Ahuriri for Lyttleton and intermediate ports sailed last night. The ketch Eliza M’Phce sailed for Gatlins this forenoon.
