ROSLYN DISTRICT. TO THE ELECTORS FOR THE DISTRICT' UF ROSLYN. /"t ENTLEMEtf —When I announced to Vjt you recently ray resignation as your representative in the General Assembly I intimated to you that I would again place myself in your hands ; in doing so, I considered it a duty to the large body of electors who have on all < ccasions favored me with their support and confidence; feeling also that I was bound to consult their wishes as far as lay in my power. Although ! have since received such ample proof of Jy our sympathy anil coulidrnce as would ensure ray re election, I have after consultation with my friends, and for private personal reasons, arrived at the conclusion that I am not justified in undertaking the duties of your representative ; and besides I could not at present spare the time to go to Wellington. I am induced to make this known to you injustice to many of my friends, who, I am informed, think that 1 desire to here-elected. I trust it will not be considered presumptuous in me to say that I feel that I still enjoy the respect and confidence of a majority of the electors, towards whom I shall always consider myself under deep obligation. 1 shall, in the meantime,' continue to take an active interest in the welfare of the district, and trust that on some future occasion I may- feel myself in a position to again offer my services as your representative.
