I have invited a number of exceedingly clever persons, and do not like to be the only fool of the lot.” In Memoiian. —A coirespondent, in reference to the coincidence of sentiment discoverable in the (quatrain, from “ In Memoriam,” beginning, “ I hold it true, whate’re befall.” and a passage in Congreve’s “ Plain Dealer, ” calls attention to some beautiful and tender lines by Lessing, ip wlrich the sapie thought occurs i—yesterday I loved, To-day I g> ieve, To-morrow I die : Yet shall I think, . Both to-day and to-morrow, Gladly of yesterday.”
