PORT CHALMERS.

The election of Councillors at Port Chalmers took place yesterday, and the result of the poll, which was declared by the returning officer, Air G. L. Asher, shortly before five in the afternoon, is as foil ws : HIGH WARD.

The Returning Officer then declared Mr A, Al'Kinnon duly elected to represent High Ward, with a majority of 6 votes; Mr J, Morgan for East Ward, with a majority of 22 votes ; and Mr J. Bolton for Middle Ward, with a majority of 11 votes. For South Ward, as the results were equal, a fresh election would shortly be held. The Alayor (Mr H. Dench) and the newlyelected Councillors, took their seats last evening ; when it was resolved that an illuminated address on vellum be presented by the Corporation to Air Hugh M ‘Dermid, the retiring Alayor.
