Correction. —We were in error last evening instating that Mr W. Somerville had been appointed registrar of births, &c., at Dunedin; his appointment is that of deputy-registrar. Crowded Out.—Wc are obliged to hold over some correspondence, local matter, and a portion of our report at the meeting at St. Josep .’s last evening. The speeches of Dr Drysdale and Mr Haughton will appear to-morrow. Mayor’s Court. —At this Court today Michael Conville and Peter Robinson were each fined 5s for being drunk. Mary Cameron, charged with attempting to commit suicide, was discharged witli a caution ; and was bound over to keep the peace for three months. Princess Theatre, —We beg to remind the patrons of the Theatre that Mr Musgrave’s benefit will take place this oyeningf The pieces selected for this occasion “ Daddy Gray,” and theburles'iueof “ Once upon a time there were two Kings.” Mr M usgrave is so general a favorite that we expect to find a full house. The Mayoralty Election. We are informed that the Corporation Solicitors have given it as their that the election was null and void, on the ground that one of the Wards had no polling booth therein, and for other reasons; a special meeting of the Council, has been called for to-morrow at noon. The Elections. —Mr Walter met the ratepayers of High Ward at the Mission House, Russell street, last evening. There was a full attendance. Mr Walter recapitulated at considerable length the do ngs of the Council during the last year, the progress made in public works, and other matter of interest. A cordial vote of confidence in Mr Walter was carried.
Mr Thoneman avi’ll address the ratepayers of Leith Ward at Hutchinson’s Prince Alfred Hotel, this evening at 8. Mr. W. H. Neale will address the Electors of 801 l Ward at the OddfelloAv’s Hall, George-street, this evening, at 8.30. A Concert of the Mornington Total Abstinence Society and Band of Hope is announced to be held in the Hchoolllouse, Mornington, op Monday evening next. A General Meeting of the members of the Dunedin Amateur Athletic Club wfll be held at the Shamrock Hotel to-morrow, (Saturday) evening at 8 o’clock. The attention of-the No. 2 Company Scottish Volunteers, is directed to a general order Avhich appears fn our advertising columns to-day. Mr W. H. Cutten will address the ratepayers of Bell Ward in Shepherd’s European Hotel, George-street, this evening, at a quarter to eight o’clock. The Electors of High ward will be addressed by Mr. Keith Ramsay, at the Mission House, Russell-strect, this evening at 8 o’clock. Mr Patesson addresses the Electors of Bell Ward at the White Horse Hotel this evening at 8 o’clock. Mr Gilchrist will address the ratepayers of Bell Ward at the Robert Burns Hotel this evening, at 8 o’clock. Mr H. J. Walter will address the ratepayers of High ward at Murray’s rooms, Rattray-street this evening, at 8 o’clock.
