PORT CHALMERS.
The nomination of Councillors and Auditors retiring by rotation, took place at the Town Hall, Port Chalmers, to-day at noon, Mr G. A. Asher presided as returning officer. There was a fair attendance of ratepayers, aud considerable interest was shewn in the proceedings. The following were the nominations : High Waku. —Mr Andrew M'Kinnon—proposed by Dr Drysdale, seconded by Mr
'James Smiths Mr William- Murray—proposed by Mr J. Thomson, seconded by Mr 11. Toms. Mr George Wilson—proposed by Mr William Kettle, seconded by Mr J Miller. ; South Ward* —Mr Robert Eealo— pro posed by Mr James Colman, seconded by Mr W. Fail. Mr David M iller—proposed by Mr George Warren, seconded by Mr J Gordon. East Ward.—Mr John Morgan—proposed by Mr Win. Innes, seconded by Capt. John Louden. Mr A. Johnson—proposed by Capt. Orkney, seconded by Mr George Easton. Middle Ward.—Mr Thomas Rose—proposed by Mr James Lawson, seconded by Mr Downes. Mr Robert Bolton—proposed by Mr Mansford, seconded by Mr Pemock. Auditors.—Mr Alexander Leek and Mr William Keltic were elected without opposition. . ' The several candidates addressed the meeting, the principal question being the water supply, on which all expressed the opinion that good water should as soon as possible be brought into, the town in the cheapest and best manner, so that a good finality and supply might be obtained.
