INSULT TO INJURY.
To the Editor. Sir,—Mr Donald Reid, on the honorarium question, said on Tuesday that he should vote '• conscientiously,” and give twenty shillings a day to our State paupers, because it was not too much for tbeir services. Of course, the only deduction to be drawn from this is, that the Civil servants were reduced not on the score of economy, but “ because it was too much for their services.” Yours, &c., V. W. Dunedin, July 19.
