(FROM GHEVILLE’S TELEGRAM COMPANY, REUTER’S AGENTS.) Opunake, July 15. The weather during the past fortnight has been dreadfully stormy. Mr. Richmond moves a resolution in the Provincial Council to assimilate the constitution of Taranaki to that of Hawke’s Bay. Invercargill, July 15, The action of the Council, in the matter of Campbell and Robertson’s claim, called forth a strong feeling of disappointment. A meeting was held to-day, and the Southland representatives were instructed to remind the Superintendent and inform the Council of the executive guarantee to indemnify the town. Steps are also being taken to oppose the proposed bill in the Assembly. The report that a proposal was carried unanimously in the Council, called forth a strong opinion against the Southland members.
