This Day. (Before A. C. Strode, Esq., R.M.) Civil Cases. Ppif-JiA**-! v, 1 ; Wtillror v, Jas. Turner.—L3 10s; and Jamieson and Skono v. M ‘Donald, L 6 0s fid. In these cases judgment was given by default for the plaintiff, for the amount claimed together with costs, Clark and Thomson v. Darling.—L9 for rent. LI 11s 8d was paid into Court, and the rest of the claim was admitted, with the exception of L 3, the amount of a month’s rent ; the defence being that there was an agreement that the defendant was to get the premises for one month rent free. This was denied by the plaintiffs, and His Worship considering the weight of evidence supported their view, gave judgment in their favor for L 7 8s 4d, together with costs. Inch v. Brown and another. —Mr Stewart for defendant, applied for an adjournment to subpoena a witness. Adjourned until Friday next. Porter v. Pollock.—Mr Howorth for the defendant, applied for an adjournment on account of not having had time to file a set off, in consequence of the summons not being served in time, viz,, 43 hours before the day of hearing. Adjourned until Friday next. PORT CHALMERS, This Day. (Before C. E, Haughton, Esq., J.P., and Geo. Kolfe, Esq., J.P.) Hugh M'Dermid was charged with allowing three head of cattle to wander on the public roads. It appearing to have been the result of accident, be was lined in the mitigated penalty of Is per head and costs.
