mercantile world (says the Melbourne Telegraph) has been a ngularly quiet, there paving been no failures of any amount, and bank shareholders being seemingly tired of baiting directors and condemning bank officials. The Chamber of Commerce, however, has given strong signs of vitality, and amongst other things has been considering the advisability of having the Australian Colonies commercially represented in London, The other Colonies have been communicated with, and have been asked to nominate representatives, and the secretary of the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce has been instructed to write to Mr F, G. Dalgety, Requesting him to act as convener of the provisional committee.
