In the case of M‘Arthur v. M‘Arthur, a charge ot t assault preferred by a wife against her husband, the defendent did not appear ; and a warrant was ordered to be issued for his apprehension. The University'.—We understand that Mr John Ferguson, late of the Tokomairiro Gramma" School, is the successful competitor for the Knox Church scholarship, worth L3O a year, and tenable for three years. The competition included arithmetic, and geometry (Euclid, Book I.), English. Latin (Ciesar’s Gallic War Book I ), and Bible knowledge. He made 243 marks out of a possible 339, or about 72 por cent. Musgrave ; Roderick Praiseworthy, Mr Wolfe ; and Reginald Prodigal, Mr A. White. On the whole the drama was very evenly played, and apparently to the satisfaction of the audience. The burlesque of “ Fpa Diavolo ” followed, comprising the whole of the company: the principal interest, as a matter of coarse, centreing in Miss Anna Forde (Fra Diavolo) and Miss Jennie Nye (Zerlina), whose singing and dancing afforded the usual quantum of pleasure to a house not so well filled as the merits of the performers deserved. The programme will be repeated this evening.
