SUPREME COURT.

lIS BANKRUPTCY. (Before Mr Justice Chapman.) His Honor took his seat on the bench at eleven o’clock. There being no opposition in the following cases the usual order of discharge was granted : —John M’Solvin, Patrick Young, Hugh Falconer, Henry Billon, and William Mee. The matters of John Cleverly, Richard Evans, and William Fuller, were adjourned to the next sitting in bankruptcy. Joseph R. Mills was adjudged a bankrupt; and the first meeting of creditors fixed for the 11th last, RE EDWARD HUDSON, OF OAMARU. Mr Kenyon appeared for the bankrupt; and Air M’ eay opposed on behalf of Messrs Stave I y and Joel, creditors. The bankrupt stated that be commenced business as a hotel keeper iu 1860, with L 250 in cash, and L 350 worth of property, consisting of horses and drays. In March, 1870, he gave a bill of sale over the whole of his property t - Messrs Bee, to secure repayment of an advance by them of L3OO, together with interest within three months from that date. His property, including book debts at the time was within about L6OO, He could not say the exact date on which possession was taken under the bill of sale ; but it was on the day he was served with a writ by Joel; the sale was on May 3. A bailiff was put in possession, and he took all the takings and sold ail liquors. Bankrupt (lied on March 27. He ordered beer from Joel on March 16. ami received goods from iStavely of the value of Ll9, on March 27. His bankruptcy was owing to the service of the writ. His Honor said that the bankrupt had made away with all his property, and subsequently incurred debts without any pros pect of being able to pay them. In all such cases he had for some time past suspended the final order ; and that of the bankrupt would be suspended for six months. Mr M’Keay obtained an order under the 145 th section.
