Another Royal Marriage,—An item of Court gossip has more interest for Australian readers than even the details of the betrothal of the Princess Louise and the Marquis of Lome. A letter published in the Loudon Press mentions that the ex-King of Hanover will visit London during the ensuing season, and that one of his daughters is to “ marry au English Royal Prince,” The letter does not giye the yaffle of the prospective bridegroom, but it is hardly pqsgible, if the gossip be true, that anyone else can b/i referred to than the Duke of Edinburgh, Any other union would be out of turn, and besides, Prince Arthur, the next of the Royal Family in order alter “our own Royal Duke,” has not yet arrived at man’s estate. And it is time Prince Alfred did “settle in life,” He wdll be twenty .-ftyc years of age next August, or four years older than his brother was at his marriage with the “ Sea King’s daughter from over the sea,” as Tennyson was pleased to describe the indubitably German Alexandra. A reference to tlm “Almanac de Gotha ” show's that there are two Hanoverian Princesses—the Princess Frederika, just twenty three years of age, and the Princess Marie, twenty-one. Which of them is destined for the Prince does not appear. Of one thing wc are sure, Australia will be ready, whenever the happy event occurs, with its congratulations. Daily Telegraph.
