The settlers and Road parties in the neighbourhoo 1 of PALMERSTON end the GORGE, MANAWAT 0, require the services of a duly qualified SURGEON. The remuneration they propose subscribing is about Twenty to Twenty-four Pounds (L2O to L 241 per month, dependent wholly or in part on the strength and continuance of the public works now in course of progress in that distiict. The Government is willing to pay such surgeon for the first year only at the rate of One Hundred Pounds (MOO) per annum on being satisfied as to his character and qua ifications, but does not in any way hold itself responsible for the subscriptions proposed to be made, nor will it give any other contribution or allowance than at the rate ‘of One Hundred. Pounds (L 100) for one year only as above-mentioned. For further particulars, apply to the Public Works Department, Wellington, where applications for the appointment are to be addressed.
