The schooner James Paxton, from the ■coast,, despite .the dense fog and heavy sea reported on the bar, arrived this morning, ifc id continued her course to Dunedin. The b’b, Kapgatira having received the visual necessary overhaul, was this morning taken out of the Floating Dock, and proceeded to Dunedin. Tb©- non-arrival -of the at the ®Wff.*pn Saturday, created, .considerable anxiety,-as from the regularity ami rapidity of her passages the Tararua hasveamed the! ■well-sustained reputation of being-the'fastesfc steamer engaged in the intercolonial trade. His Honor the Superintcndant being aware of this, shared inthe common anxiety, and on Sunday morning forwarded instructions to the authorities at Invercargill to engage the services of thes.s.
