John Stark, recently fireman of the Government steam dredge, and subsequently employed at the Graving Dock steam pumps, died this morning from injuries received on Saturday night, through falling into the Dock whilst on his way to tne dredge, which is moored near to the entrance of the Graving Dock. On falling his companion immediately descended into the Dock to Ids rescue. Assistance was at once rendered by the officers and crew of the Taranaki, and the sufferer was conveyed to Mr Dench’s Hotel, where every attention and kindness was shewn him by Dr O’Donoghue, and the proprietor of the hotel, and a number of friends, who have held in respect, through having known him for some time as a quiet, steady, and industrious man; hut the injuries received were so great that he gradually sunk un ler them.
