MAYOR’S COURT.
Tins Uav, (Before his Worship the Mayor.) DRUNKENNESS. Henry Quiney and Daniel Kerrigan, were each lined JUs. John Miller was discharged with a caution. THEFT, Robert Murray was sentenced to seven days’ hard labor, for stealing a hand-barrow ; and Mary Kilclum to a mouth’s imprisonment with hard labor, for stealing a brooch. The last mentioned prisoner was also charged with stealing a quantity of wearing apparel fran (lie New Market Hotel. It appeared from the evidence that the prisoner wa engaged as gener 1 servant by Mrs Hyndman yesterday, and in the afternoon got drunk, in consequence of which she was discharged. As she was about to leave, Mrs Hyndman noticed that her appearance was very bulky, searched her, and found concealed beneath her dress a silk petticoat; and in a bag beneath it two silk dresses, some underclothing, a silver watch, and other articles, valued altogether at LlO. She was committed for trial. ALLEGED UOKSEVriUMN'.;. Richard Burns was remanded to Palmerston on a charge of stealing a horse and bridle, the properly of one A. Brcmner. NECLKCTED CHILD. Robert Murray, aged nine years, was charged with being a neglected child. It appeared from the evidence that the child had been totally neglected for some time past; he was in the habit of going about the streets singing, and whatever money ho earned in that manner was given to his father, who spent it in drink, and who for some time past has not followed any industrious pursuit. The child was sent to the Industrial School for seven years, to be brought up in the Presbyterian faith.
