THE VOLUNTEERS.
A match open to all members of the Dunedin Volunteer Artillery avho have never won a priz l , was fired at the North Dunedin Range this morning, upon tho following conditions, viz.:—Five shots at ranges of 209, 300, and 400 yards ; Hythc position at 200, kneeling at 300, and any position at 400 ; Wimbledon target at the first range, and second-class targets at the two longer ones ; one sighting shot per range ; Government ritles and ammunition; no sunshades, rests, &c.
Five prizes were given, varying from L 3 toU,
The weather was clear with a bright sun, but a strong gusty wind from the right precluded the possibility of largo scores being made. Gunner T. Muir heads the li t with 45; Gunner Bill following with 44, Pending the decision of a protest against Gunner J. C. Fulton, the fallowing are the winners with their scores, viz.:—
Fulton, Corporal Greenfield will take the fifth prize with a total of 38. The Artillery fired a royal salute at noon to-dav.
