Evening Star Office, Saturday evening, the amount of revenue received at the Cus-tom-house on goods cleared for consumption to-day, was £122 9s sd.
We note that during the week there has teen a good supply of grain of all descriptions. Wheat has been offering freely, and a good many parcels have changed hands. Prices vary from 5s to 5s 3d, but we believe that for a particularly fine sample 5s 6(1 lias been given. We may, however, quote os 3d einal to cash, as being the saleable price for first-class milling qnalities. Oats are not in demand, and parcels are quitted with dunttUlty. The millers are well stocked, and dealers for feeding lots are not offering oyer 2s 3d. Feeding barley remains unsaleable ; for maltibg we notice the market is very firm at 3s 9d to 4s, and the supply not over plentiful. Yesterday and to-dav there has h«en a spiHted enquiry for speculative parcels of Hour, no doubt in the anticipation that an advance has taken place in Melbourne, and the news by the Rangitoto is therefore anxiously looked for. The millers with a f w exceptions have only disposed of (Small lots to regular customers. Wheat, os to 5s 3d ; oats, 2s 3d to 2s 5d ; barleymalting, 3s 9d to 4s—feeding, 2s ; flour, 1-14 sacks, Ll4 10s bags; pollard and bran, L 4 10s, including bags ; oatmeal, Ll4 IDs ; nearl barley, L2O; potatoes, L 3; straw, L2 10s ; hay, L 4 ; chaff, L 4 ; onions, Lll ; turnips and carrots, L2 10s. A. Mercer reports for the week ending to-day Retail prices-fresh butter, Is 2d per lb ; salt butter, Is per lb ; butter in keg, lid; cheese, 6d to Bd, and very plentiful with both Provincial and Canterbury ; rolled bacon, lOdto Is per lb; Colonial hams, Is 2d per lb, and scarce ; English hams, Is 4d and Is 6d per lb; eggs, 3s per doz., aud very scarce.
