A second lire was discovered on board the barque Malay, at three o’clock on the morning of Tuesday, and extinguished. Persons who have arrived iu Blenheim from Port Underwood, state that it is supposed the lire originated between some bales of liax and skins. The vessel where the llax and grain were stored, and the outside of the bales of liax were only burnt. The extent of the damage is thirty bales of wool, forty-live of llax, and sixty sacks of grain. The vessel is uninsured, but the whole of the cargo is insured. It is expected an inquiry will be held. The cause of the lire is unknown, but the circumstances connected with it are suspicious. The captain is absent at Wanganui.

Wellington, May 3. Charles Brill, bookbinder, from Melbourne, was found drowned this morning. It is suspected that he committed suicide. The deceased lately lost a lawsuit, and lias been in low spirits .ever since. At the coroner’s inquest, just ended, a verdict was returned of “ Found drowned.”
