The Tararua arrived this morning. The Colonial Bank lias taken its entire reserve fund, and writes off ten shillings per share to meet the halfyear’s losses and pay a dividend at the rate of eight per cent. The National Bank proposes a dividend of eight per cent, and to carry four thousand to the reserve and thirty-four hundred forward. Jones, of the Telegraph Department, won the challenge sculls. Commercial.—Two sixty bales wool were auctioned at full prices. The late reductions on sugars are fully established, and breadstuff's very dull. Flour Ll4 10s to Ll4 15s. Wheat, (is Id. Oats dull, at 3s 8d to 3s 9d. ‘ Sydney. Robertson, teller of the Bank of New South Wales at Tan) worth, has been cominitteql for trial for embezzlement. Further rioting has again taken place at the N.ew.castje Reformatory. The Sydney Fire Company declared a dividend and bonus of 1.5 pc:r cent., and the Sydney Marine Company a dividend of 10 per cent. Sales of Adelaide wheat were made at 6s 3d. The Australasian Company intend altering the steamer City of Adelaide for the Californian line at once. Florence is scratched for the Leger and the Cup, causing great disappointment to her backers. Lady Clifton is favorite for the Leger, at 3 to 2 ; Little Dick and Duke for the Cup, at 0 to 1 each. The judgment in Mr Pnrchas’s case provokes the ritualists, who threaten secession. The London School Board decide to admit the reading of the Bible under certain restrictions ThsMyool sales are fixed for April 13. The nTOfsus are cleared out, and the prospects arc favorable.
